New Member Ministry All deacons are to participate in the Encourager Program.Deacon On Call Ministry Each Deacon serves for a week to be available to assist the needs of church families for that week. He is also on call to assist in the absence of the ministers. He is responsible for doing the Benediction at the close of both morning services and for contacting first time visitors on Sunday afternoon or during the following week.Hospital and Shut-In Ministry These Deacons visit members and others who are in nursing homes or the hospital. They also visit those who are shut-in.Crisis / Needs Ministry These Deacons work with the elderly, widows, and the handicapped to perform minor repairs and tasks. They work with the Brotherhood, WOM and other church organizations. These Deacons also minister to those who have experienced a death in the family by visiting in the home, attending the visitation and/or the funeral.Outreach Ministry These Deacons work with the Director of Outreach and the Minister of Education. They assist the Sunday School Department with the outreach program by sending cards and letters as needed. They work with inactive members with visits, phone calls, cards, etc.New Member Cultivation Ministry These Deacons keep the New Member packets up-to-date, plan, coordinate and participate in the New Member Banquets and they mentor to New Members.Naomi Ministry These Deacons maintain contact with widows to assure them that the church family has not forgotten them. They contact the ladies frequently by phoning or visiting and they keep the ministers advised of any major changes. They assist in small household needs or direct them to the Crisis and Needs Ministry. They may direct them to professional help when that is indicated.Prayer Ministry The Deacons in the Prayer Ministry work to make our church a house of prayer.Deacon-In-Training Ministry This ministry is to assist and guide the new Deacons in gaining knowledge in their role as Deacons, and in their duties and responsibilities. An active Deacon works with each Deacon in Training. The Deacons in Training attend classes as set forth by the deacon body and the ministerial staff. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
