2006 Belarus Mission Trip
-- Last Update
Dear Oak Grove Church Family,
As we write to you today, it is Saturday morning in Molodechno. The last two
days have been eventful. Thursday we completed VBS with a total enrollment
remaining at fifty-five. Bobby concluded her last Bible study by explaining the
“wordless book.” With language barrier, this was a very effective way to share
the Gospel. Our music team got the children ready to sing songs for entire
church this coming Sunday morning. The clowns were fabulous! They lead the
children out in a parade consisting of a giant Kazoo band. The Kazoo’s were made
by the children in the craft-time lead by Stacey Schwaller and Debbie Ryken.
Tracy Mackey & Kim Robinson completed the recreational activities which the
children enjoyed immensely all week. Recreational time was a time when all the
team members got to develop personal relationships with all of the children.
This made it difficult saying good bye at the end of the day. We did have two of
the older boys accept Christ during the music time.
Words cannot really describe the emotions and the feelings that are a part of
this kind of ministry. As we stated in our last e-mail, our lives have
definitely be touched far greater than the lives of the children.
Friday morning we visited the Molodechno Children’s Hospital and orphanage. The
clowns were a big hit with the children and the staff of both institutions. We
were able to administer prayers of healing and give gifts at the hospital. While
we were at the orphanage we received a special blessing through a program
presented by the children. They also gave us gifts of artwork which they
designed. These gifts had personalized notes of love and expressions of thanks
for our coming to Molodechno. Most of the children in the orphanage were able to
attend the VBS all week and plan to attend church with us on Sunday morning.
Pray for a special worship service tomorrow as we celebrate the ten-year
anniversary of the Baptist church in Molodechno. Immediately following church
services tomorrow morning we will be returning to Minsk.
